Whitby · North Yorkshire

Premium gallery standard giclee prints of Whitby.

A collection of exquisitely detailed paintings and traditionally hand rendered technical illustrations

Marine Parade: a painting of the Whitby harbour frontage, with the pantile roofs of Sandgate rising behind the shopfronts of Barlow & Straker, The Ship and the Hotel Marine.
West Pier Lighthouse shown as a finished print, in a cream double mount with a navy pinstripe and a black frame.
Presentation

The double mount

Every Whitby print is supplied double-mounted. An outer mount, and beneath it a second mount cut to show a fine reveal of colour taken from the picture itself.

Outer mount
A cream mount with a second mount showing beneath the aperture as a fine pinstripe.
Inner reveal
A fine line of colour drawn from the artwork, sitting just proud of the aperture.
The print
Set behind both mounts, which is what gives the artwork its extra depth.

It is a small thing and it costs a little more, but it is the difference between a picture on a wall and a picture that has been properly looked after.

What giclée means

Giclée is a sophisticated fine art printing process that uses advanced inkjet technology, archival pigment inks, and high-quality papers to produce prints of exceptional fidelity and longevity. Unlike conventional prints, Giclée prints are renowned for their vibrant colours, sharp detail, and resistance to fading, ensuring your artwork remains pristine for decades.

Archival Quality

Prints designed to last for generations without fading or degradation.

Vibrant Detail

Exceptional colour accuracy and intricate detail reproduction.

Fine Art Standard

The preferred method for artists and photographers worldwide.

The same East Pier Lighthouse cutaway section, reversed out in white line on a deep navy ground.

The East Pier light of 1855, drawn once and issued twice. Which one you want tends to depend entirely on the wall.

About the artist

Most of the paintings I produce are created using acrylic paint on canvas board, it’s the medium I favour and specialise in. Composition, technical drawing and perspective theory always play an important role in the execution of my work.

I now devote my time and artistry to creating paintings and drawings of Whitby, it is what my long-term partner Joanne and myself refer to as “Our Happy Place”.
